Saskatchewan came out for a date with culture on June 11

June 11 marked the second annual Saskatchewan Art Gallery Day

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, SaskGalleries celebrated the second Saskatchewan Art Gallery Day along with eighteen member galleries from across the province, and new this year, online galleries. More than 800 people across the province took the opportunity to visit the galleries and take in special events – a testament to the value of fine art and commercial gallerie in our province.

A little rain, a Pride parade, and a Rider game didn’t hamper the festivities. The galleries not only opened their doors for this day to welcome new visitors, but also hosted special events for the day. These events included artists talks, live demonstrations, an opportunity to meet and connect with the artists and the gallerists, all contributing to an enriched sense of community within the province and beyond. Additionally, the online galleries provided a new way of celebrating with an alternative option to join in from anywhere, anytime. Check out the photo gallery below to see the events of the day.

We would like to thank the Ministry of Parks, Culture, and Sport for declaring the second Saskatchewan Art Gallery Day, and Creative Saskatchewan for supporting us.  We also thank the many attendees and the galleries for making the day a success.

Finally, just a reminder that your local commercial art galleries are open all year, and the gallery owners are eager to welcome you into their space. Take some time to make a date with culture any time during the year.  Check out our events page https://www.saskgalleries.ca/saskgalleries-events for listings of gallery exhibitions year-round.

And be sure to save the date for the Art Now Fine Art Fair (www.artnow.ca) coming September 22 to 25, 2022, at Prairieland Park, in Saskatoon.
